Open your door to a warm breeze and grand view...

This lovely location provides the opportunity to enjoy all the modern conveniences of home, in an Old World Mexican setting. Parking is just across the street from the entrance on our small street. Guests have access to the elevator, pool and hot tub, patio barbecue, and beach access.

El Faro Real 1 has both stairs and an elevator. These condos are very well built, and you likely will not hear anyone above or below. This condo is the only one on this floor, so it is private. Each condo has its own code for entry. As the doors open on the fifth floor, you walk straight into the living/dining room area. If you prefer to take the stairs the door is to the left. Most folks head straight to the overwhelming view of the balcony.

The condo is furnished with a mixture of Ethan Allen and finely crafted Mexican pieces, and art. There are fans with lighting in every room; fan speed controls and light dimmers are used to set each one separately so you control the mood. The circuit breaker has surge protection for the whole house, so you need not worry about your computers and equipment. We have high-speed internet and Netflix. Though there is usually a beautiful breeze thru the condo when the back and front windows are open, each room has its own air conditioning unit and control. We encourage people to open the doors and windows to allow beautiful cross ventilation. For most of the year, the air conditioner is unnecessary.

Our manager, Betty also has many years of experience in this area. She or her team will meet you at the condo with keys and information about the complex. They will be available to help with your needs beyond whatever questions we can answer. Some people like to have a personal chef come in to cook. She can help with that as well.

"Spectacular view and location. Great spot on the beach where access to the water is easiest. The elevator opening directly into the unit is very luxurious - feels like a penthouse!"

Frequently asked questions
  • How far is Punta Mita from the airport in Puerto Vallarta?
Punta Mita is 24 miles northwest of Puerto Vallarta, following the shore of the Bay of Banderas. Normally it takes a rental car or cab about 40 minutes to get to the condo depending on traffic. If you choose to take one of the local buses, it will likely take a couple of hours. Where do I catch a cab or bus? If taking a cab or the bus, walk across the overpass next to the airport and you find a bus stop and a cab station where the rates are likely to be a bit less than right outside the airport. The cab fare will range between 900 pesos or around $45 and $100 for the larger Suburbans that carry more passengers.
  • Is it safe to visit Punta de Mita?
The area feels very safe. We regularly walk through town in the evening to local markets and restaurants when few people are out. It is not a major tourism hub that would more likely attract a faction of people that prey on others usually associated with the drug trade. It is a small Mexican community situated alongside a wealthy, gated community. El Faro Real additionally has a locked gate to enter the compound either from the road or from the beach.
  • Should I get money exchanged at home, at the airport, or in Punta Mita?"
If you have time, it is a good idea to exchange money before you head to Mexico. You will get a better exchange rate. You can also exchange at the airport, or small amounts at some local markets. There is an ATM in Punta de Mita, but for now it only gives dollars. If you come in early enough, you can stop at a bank on the way and get a pretty good rate for larger amounts. You'll find credit cards are accepted in restaurants and the larger markets.
  • Can I rent a car in Punta Mita?
If you plan to rent a car for the length of your stay, a great deal is to reserve a vehicle with Gecko. They will pick you up at the airport and then drop you there at the end of your stay. Unless you want to explore the area outside of Punta de Mita, most people will find they do not need a car. You can also rent a golf cart in town if walking is not possible
  • How much do you tip waiters and staff people?
We tip 20% to waiters. We charge a flat cleaning fee, and unless you are staying for an extended period or are asking for additional services, you need not tip. If you do want additional service, that can be worked out with our manager, Betty.
  • Should we stop on the way to the condo to stock up on food?
A lot of people will have their cab or with their rental car stop at Mega or Commercial Mex in Bucerias on the way to the condo. It's a good place to shop for the week where options are plentiful both for food and alcohol. If you are staying for an extended period, you may want to stop at Costco; a bit further into Vallarta. But, most everything you need can be had at the local markets, fish and produce stores. There are also great farmer's markets on Friday in Sayulita and Sunday in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle nearby. Fresh seafood, produce, cheeses, baked goods and more. They're fun places to explore.

YOUR HOSTS

Kerry and Mike

My husband Mike and I started exploring Mexico in the mid-'90s and originally settled on Sayulita just fifteen minutes north of Punta de Mita. At the time it was a quiet village of fishermen and mango orchards. Brahma bulls and horses still roamed freely thru the dirt roads of the town. It's since become a destination for weddings, parties, and beachgoers from all over the world.

We chose to be close enough to Sayulita to enjoy all the great restaurants, but far enough away to get a great night's sleep, hear the ocean, and find that somewhat sleepy Mexican town still in existence. We found a perfect spot to land at El Faro Real condos in Punta de Mita. Towards the north end of the Bay of Banderas, the condo is located just south of Sayulita, west of Cruz de Huanacaxtle, and northwest of Bucerias. It is a half-hour taxi ride from the Puerto Vallarta airport and several interesting towns to the north and south for exploration.
